What We Believe

The following are the core beliefs of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Mesquite - TX based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

We believe the Bible is the only inerrant, infallible, inspired, sufficient and authoritative Word of God. It consist of sixty-six books that make up the Old and New Testaments (2 Timothy 3:15-17, 1 Thessalonians 2:13).

We believe there is one God who eternally exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth (Luke 1:35), in His sinless life (Hebrews 7:26), and in His miracles. His death on the cross was substitutionary for mankind and paid for the sin of the world (John 10:15, 1 Peter 2:24). He rose from the grave (1 Corinthians 15:20), ascended into heaven and will one day return to earth in power and glory (Acts 1:9-11).

We believe in the deity of the Holy Spirit, that His present work is to reveal sin, righteousness and judgment to mankind (John 16:7-9), to regenerate those who believe (Acts 1:5), and to enable believers to transform to the image of Christ (2 Corinthians 3:18).

We believe man was created in the image of God (Genesis 2:7) but through the sin of Adam now all mankind has inherited a sin nature  (Romans 5:12). Now all mankind is separated from God and subject to His wrath and condemnation (John 3:36, Romans 3:23, 6:23)

We believe that salvation is wholly by God, not by works of man, but by grace through faith alone (Ephesians 2:8-9)

We believe the church is one body made up of all believers (1 Corinthians 12:12-13), who meet locally to build itself up in faith (Ephesians 4:13-16)and  fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20)
